短い形容詞の多くは-erで比較級にします。large→larger、big→bigger、busy→busierのようなつづりに注意。interestingなどではmore＋原級を使います。thanの前後で、どちらをどちらと比べるのか確かめましょう。

英文を組み立てる4つのポイント
最上級：集団の中でいちばん
-estやmost＋原級で最上級にします。この単元の基本の形はthe tallest、the most popularなど。of the threeやin this classのように、比べる集団や範囲も確かめます。goodとwellはbetter、bestと変化します。

as＋原級＋as：同じくらい
asとasの間は原級です。as heavy asなら同じくらい重い、not as heavy asなら相手ほど重くないという意味。動作の上手さならas well asを使い、goodやbetterと混同しないようにします。
as long as ... / not as heavy as ... / swim as well as ...
好みを比べるbetterとbest
like A better than BはBよりAのほうが好き、like A the bestはAがいちばん好きという基本の形です。疑問文では、何と何を比べるのか、どの範囲から選ぶのかも確認しましょう。
